Mission.
The League of Women Voters is, at all levels, a nonpartisan, multi-issue, grassroots organization dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy. It encourages informed, active participation of citizens in local, county, state and national governments. The League is unique in its strict nonpartisanship — it supports and opposes issues but not candidates or political parties.
Structure. The League is a three-tiered organization: National, State and Local. There are presently over 700 state and local leagues, comprising half a million members and supporters. The eight local leagues of Westchester County have joined in an InterLeague Organization (ILO) that monitors county governance and the County Board of Elections, reviewing issues and actions that impact the County as a whole, giving us a fourth tier.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the organization’s current and future success in engaging all individuals, households, communities, and policy makers in creating a more perfect democracy.
